This necklace was the winner of the Award of Merit at the 2016 Inverness Festival of the Arts.
I thrive on creating one-of-a-kind creative and whimsical jewelry that is really "wearable art." I believe that the best jewelry is interesting to look at, fun to wear and a reflection of one's personality.
My husband and I happily moved from the snowy mountains of Steamboat Springs, Colorado after 30 years to sunny and warm Citrus County, Florida in 2014. I retired as a Registered Nurse and Nursing Home Administrator and now focus on further developing my art.
For most of my nursing career I worked with elders and grew to deeply appreciate those who have lived long lives. I discovered the magic of jewelry while helping ladies fasten a sparkling necklace or put on earrings - it was a surefire way to make them smile! Their antique jewelry inspires the vintage look of many of my pieces.
I create an eclectic mix of jewelry with color, texture, and contrast. By texturing, fold forming and cold forging metal I can create interesting pieces with dimension. I particularly like combining different metals together. Organic materials such as wood, shells, or pearls along with gemstones, crystals, lucite, or porcelain beads contrast nicely with copper, natural brass and silver. Hardware stores, odd "found" items and vintage jewelry also provide components I use in creating unique jewelry.
I sell my one-of-a-kind creations at shows in Florida and Colorado.
